‘Game of Thrones’ Actor Peter Vaughan Passes at 93

6 December 2016 Entertainment

Game of Thrones has just lost one of its own as British actor Peter Vaughan who played Maester Aemon in the series, passes at the age of 93.

His agent said that “he died peacefully with his family around him.”

Although known best for his role on the HBO juggernaut, Vaughan’s career spanned seven decades and included roles in both TV and film.

He was in Village of the Damned, Time Bandits, The Razor’s Edge, The Remains of the Day, Brazil and Porridge. Fans of GoT will recall that Maester Aemon, a Targaryen and great-uncle to Daenerys, chose Castle Black over the Iron Throne and died in season 5 which aired in 2015.

He told The Sunday Post in an interview over the summer of 2016 that, “It’s been an absolute privilege to have worked on it for the past five years at my time of life because it’s absolutely first-class.” Thank you for everything Peter.
